General Information
The Floot Fire Solo Competition is open to Floot Fire participants at all locations and consists of a preliminary round plus a final round of competition.  The preliminary round will be held Sunday afternoon, June 22.  The final round will be Friday, June 27.  Both rounds will be held at Custer Road United Methodist Church in Plano.

Fees
A non-refundable entry fee of $30 is required of all participants. In addition, the accompanist fee of $30 must be submitted with the Floot Fire/Solo Entry application if a Floot Fire accompanist is needed.

Eligibility
All entrants to the Solo Competition:

  • Must enter the appropriate division:
    Senior Division - Students who have completed 10th grade or older.
    Junior Division - Students who have completed 9th grade or younger.
  • Must register for and attend one of the 2008 Floot Fire Workshops (Plano, Arlington or Houston).
  • Must plan to continue music at the university level in some capacity.
  • Must submit a written teacher recommendation by the application deadline for the Floot Fire Workshop you are attending. A place for the recommendation is included in the printable registration forms. If registering online, print and mail your teacher recommendation.

Repertoire
Student must perform a piece for flute with piano accompaniment for the contest. During the preliminary audition, each student will perform 6 minutes of his or her piece. (Make cuts if necessary.)

Accompanists
Entrants are required to either arrange for their own accompanists or to request a Floot Fire accompanist on the application form. A $30.00 accompanist fee must be included with the application.

Location:
Both preliminary auditions and the final recital will take place at Custer Road United Methodist Church
, located at 6601 Custer Road, Plano, TX, 75023, on the west side of Custer Road between Spring Creek Parkway and Legacy Drive.  A map to the church is available on the church Web site.

Floot Fire Houston Information

Note:  Your Floot Fire application (and Solo Competition entry) must be accompanied by a $50 non-refundable deposit (credited toward tuition), your Solo Competition Entry fee ($30), and your accompanist fee ($30, if applicable).  Mail your teacher recommendation form if registering online. The recommendation form is included in the printable application.

Payment may be made by check (payable to FLOOT FIRE, Inc.) or by credit card. Credit cards are only accepted through PayPal, a secure online payment system, and should be made using our online application.
